Notes, D.H.Lawerence

Squeeeedly deeedly deadly dee!

'Notes' another work sold!

Painted, monoprinted, thermal fax silkscreen of quote by D.H. Lawrence, and drawing. Silk noil, quilted, and presented on stretcher bars. 8x24 set of 5 notes

Notes was inspired by one of my favorite quilt artists- Joan Schultz and potter and poet- Paulus Berenshon.
Joan, the technique and freedom to mono-print fabric.
Paulus, the poetry and words.

These pieces were mono printed several times and silkscreened with part of a poem by D H Lawrence, unreadable but in part. I created an type of automatic writing with acrylic that highlights parts of the pieces. This too is unreadable but makes one inspect the piece closer.
They are just notes, things one writes to remember.

Tender Revelations

Throw Back Thursday Art Quilt

Tender Revelations
2003-  was enthused by reading the book, "After the Ecstasy, The Laundry" by Jack Kornfield. I was returning from a session at the Haystack School of Crafts in Deer Isle. Maine and listening to the book tape. I had to keep stopping to jot down notes in my journal. Tender Revelations  was inspired from this quote; " What can we expect when we enter the forest? To listen more deeply to the quiet. The first steps bring us amazements of tender revelations."
All fabrics are created by the artist. They are dyed, mono-printed, sprayed, sun printed, painted and stamped. The fabrics are cottons, silk noil and organza. I intuitively curve- piece and quilt the artwork.

Stalking the Wild Prints Meets Green Mixed Media Journal

My last workshop was a combo of Stalking the Wild Prints and Green Mixed Media Journal.
A lovely combination!
Front Cover
First we will build an up-cycled journal to use for our printing samples.
pages made from recycled cards & junk mail
gesso, paint & texture!
Besides being easy and lots of fun to make, the materials are free and don’t add to the landfills. The journal can be made as simply or as artfully as your muse suggests.
nature prints on all kinds of substrates
Gather found natural items to print like leaves, grass, and ferns- perfect to get outside!
sample prints glued in
We'll experience a type of printmaking, very simple, easy and you won't want to stop! This technique is similar to a monotype, the incidental and the unintended become part of the image.
Stitched
 published in Cloth, Paper, Scissors

Textured Photographs by Chris Clark

Quilting Daily has selected one of my past Quilting Arts articles to be included in a new free eBook- Digital Quilting Designs: Free Digital Art Techniques for Collage and Quilts.
Here is the link if you’d like it.

by Chris Clark
My article is about printing on Textured Molding Paste, part of my Digital Printing Workshop.

Heres a note from a person who has tried my Textured Photographs technique…
"I love your stuff and your lessons.  My favorite is your Digital Imagery and Textured Backgrounds.   I have made some really cool pictures with your technique.
Here are my favorites.  I scanned the backgrounds before I printed on them so I could use them to create other pieces as well.  Then I print them on fabric and stitch and embellish.  I printed the daisies on fabric and then stitched them  I added Angelina fibers to the background.  It looks like the daisies were appliquéd, but they were printed.  Love it!  You can see my other work at Quilted Art by Chris Clark on Facebook."
