At Home in my Studio
I've posted pictures of my mill studio but I have given that up after 9-10 years.
Here's a few studio shots of my very messy and FILLED studio in my home.
We are building a new home and I will have a similar sized new studio- so how will I paint?

"The exhibition turned out wonderfully – the quilts look great and the layout of the space really works well – especially considering the vast differences in scale between the different pieces. I just finished meeting with our local art reporter, who is featuring the exhibition in our local paper on Sunday, who said he thought the exhibition is the best contemporary art show in town! I’ll send a link to the newspaper article when it comes out."

Explosion remains...
When I paint pages or cloth I like to return to them several
times to layer in some more colors and unite them with a color wash. Usually, I
use paints that are progressively more diluted- so the colors beneath them are
still seen. If you think in fabric
terms, in a way, I’m creating more solids.
I pour a small amount of paint right onto my table. I’m working on a sheet of 4 ml plastic. I paint with an old credit card. This allows me to scoop up the paint and scrap it onto my paper, pulling the card around, changing the angle and even using the side to create lines.
You can also blot excess paint away with a paper towel. Rub or simply press & lift. This creates another texture too- where the paint is removed the lower layer is revealed. Sometimes, I’ll spray the paint to remoisten it to allow more lift.
Another example
you can really see the texture the paper towel left, belowSaturday, August 18, 2012

Setting Up Your Blog to Sell
I wanted to have an online presence just for selling. I had an idea to set up a separate blog with Small Works to Go and other Sale items. I called the blog UpLIFTMeNTs. http://wenredmond.blogspot.com
The
set-up is the same as any blog. To make it a selling blog you need to be able
to accept payments. An easy method is to first create a PayPal account. Anybody
can buy your work using PalPay itself or credit cards. It’s secure and notifies
you when you have a sale. Delicious!
Once
you set up a PalPal account you can create PayPal buttons in merchant service
section. There are several different buttons to choose from.
First, simply create your post as usual, with your sale item; on your blog- then go to Paypal
to create your button.
PayPal will give
your html code to copy and paste into your blog post.
There are 2 tabs - compose and html- for creating your blog post. The secret
is to choose the html tab on the top left of your blog post BEFORE you
add the PayPal code. Once you select the html tab, your post will be in
code.
Simply
paste the PayPal button code at the bottom.
Then hit the
compose tab at the top again and your post should be complete with your PayPal
button.
It is easier to do one item per post.
Good Luck!

What did you do before you started to quilt?
This question is going around on a yahoo group I take part in. So I thought I'd answer it here with the addition of pix.
I used to make batik hand painted and long loopy hand quilted soft sculptures.
It's funny because I just did my own thing until I joined a quilt guild in NH, when I moved here, and no one was doing that but they were counting stitches in inch when quilting. So I learned traditional quilting & piecing.
Anyway I actually had the thought that that's what folks are doing these days. Painting, surface design and hand quilting!
