Stalking the Wild Prints Meets Green Mixed Media Journal

My last workshop was a combo of Stalking the Wild Prints and Green Mixed Media Journal.
A lovely combination!
Front Cover
First we will build an up-cycled journal to use for our printing samples.
pages made from recycled cards & junk mail
gesso, paint & texture!
Besides being easy and lots of fun to make, the materials are free and don’t add to the landfills. The journal can be made as simply or as artfully as your muse suggests.
nature prints on all kinds of substrates
Gather found natural items to print like leaves, grass, and ferns- perfect to get outside!
sample prints glued in
We'll experience a type of printmaking, very simple, easy and you won't want to stop! This technique is similar to a monotype, the incidental and the unintended become part of the image.

My article is about printing on Textured Molding Paste, part of my Digital Printing Workshop.

Heres a note from a person who has tried my Textured Photographs technique…
"I love your stuff and your lessons.  My favorite is your Digital Imagery and Textured Backgrounds.   I have made some really cool pictures with your technique.
Here are my favorites.  I scanned the backgrounds before I printed on them so I could use them to create other pieces as well.  Then I print them on fabric and stitch and embellish.  I printed the daisies on fabric and then stitched them  I added Angelina fibers to the background.  It looks like the daisies were appliqu├ęd, but they were printed.  Love it!  You can see my other work at Quilted Art by Chris Clark on Facebook."

Amazements of the Tender Reflections

Delighted that my work "Amazements of  the Tender Reflections"  will be part of the Dinner at Eight Artist's "Reflections" exhibition at International Quilt Market Festival in Houston!

International Quilt Market October 25-27
International Quilt Festival October 30-Nov 2
Houston Texas
Amazements of  the Tender Reflections began as a digital collage of several photographs- outdoor imagery and
image of stitched water color water with a 'bloom' of color,
These were layered in Photoshop with an additional image of painted fabric, which I didn't save. The resulting picture is close to the finished one except for size.
The  image was sized correctly and printed on digital ready cotton broadcloth.

Several areas of the printed image were painted back into and additional images were added viva image transfer and an Anais Nin quote was written toward the bottom.

The finished pieces were cut apart, edge stitched and sealed and finished with paint. The segments were hand tied together for somewhat kinetic effects

The Houston exhibit was curated by Jamie Fingal and Leslie Tucker Jenison

Green Greeting Card Journal

I love journals and was getting really to toss a pile of old cards in the trash when I thought of a great way to recycle them- into a journal! These painterly journals are terrific to toss into your bag for travel, workshop note taking, and more.
Besides being easy and lots of fun to make, the materials are free and don’t add to the landfills. A great way to use old cards from the holidays, birthdays or other occasions. The journal can be made as simply or as artfully as your muse suggests.

Please join me in my workshop, Green Journals, for a relaxing, creative day!

Stalking the Wild Leaves Workshop

Plein air printing? Why not! Take a walk and get your materials for free!

Not only can you gather found natural items to print but you can clear you head and get inspired too.

On walks, I’ll look at a piece of broken stones, leaves and ferns, branches and wonder ‘can I print with that?’ One of my mantras recently is ‘to just try it’!

We'll experience a type of fabric or paper printmaking aka simple, easy and you won't want to stop!

We’ll use some of our samples and print pages for a simple art-filled pamphlet book!

Wen published this technique in Cloth, Paper, Scissors in 2011
