The construction of Open Windows is very similar to the digital work I am doing now- doing work in segments. This was done in sections with hand dyed cottons and wools. Each segment was created separately but in unison.  Intuitive curved piecing and applied "free appliqué". Encouraged hanging threads and fabric. It was not accepted in many shows then and was 'retired'. Today, I attended an opening today in Philly and there was a piece there that reminded me of this work. Maybe I should update it a bit and send it back out into the world!

Quilt Visions 2012

the back of my piece, 'First Light'- will publish the front after the opening  Congratulations to the Artists Selected for  Quilt Visions 2012: Brainstorms Thanks to our three terrific jurors: Kate Lenkowsky,  Jane Przybysz, and Kent Williams who viewed nearly  400 entries and selected a stunning exhibition of 40  quilts. After viewing the entries online, the jurors met  at Visions Art Museum for two days for the challenging  task of making the final selections. Moon Fog

I decided to change one or my mounted FiberArt pieces. Since it is already mounted, I needed to work the piece so the changes didn't interfere with the stretch that mounting requires.

I decided the edges were the parts that I didn't like the most. And the piece needed unification.

I laid a light muted glaze very quickly over the main body first. Then, I applied a opaque flake medium to three edges, in different amounts, to keep the fiber/texture quality. I went over that in paint and added a couple layers of free script, one of my trademarks.
