Pause- a new work

Working for the first time in awhile, I feel like an exploding volcano! I want to push my boundaries with my photography.  I worked this piece up in Photoshop using layers. Then, I divided it into 6 printable sizes. Very patchwork, eh! It was fused to a very stiff interfacing and stitched into it. I'm exploring printing on a created substrate, so this work is firm. The process requires working with a new product called ink aid. So far it is very permanent. I will apply medium after I'm finished.  Let me know what you think.
Top is detail, bottom Full View- I'd switch them if I could.

Lovely. The intense colour bursts are a bit Ton Schultern-ish - but there is a softness in the lacy trees that is very much you.

Wen, The new piece looks fantastic! I love the bursts of color. Great job, as usual. You know I am one of your biggest fans!

It has an airy 'feel' to it...very painterly.. what did you print on? PFD fabric? or???
Great use of Photoshop capabilities.
I like too, that there is a piece coming to the right.. giving the sense of juxtaposition.

i love it! I've been meaning to do something like this. I took lots of pictures of bare trees in the spring before they budded. but they're still in the computer. Maybe you'll inspire me.

Love the overaqll effect and the layered imagery. What is the purpose of the medium layer you plan to apply at the end?

The effect of the bare trees subtly showing through the different colors gives this work a lot of interest. What doesn't work for me is the large light area at the bottom left that seems disconnected from the rest of the piece. Enhancing and playing with photo images works well for a design area in your work. Looking forward to seeing how this progresses.

I think the design and PS work is awesome. My only suggestion would be to vary the print size and then construction so that you don't end up with 6 equal boxes of printed material. Then overlap in a less than uniform way.

I'm a little confused as to the process. The background looks like hand dye. Did you scan that in to use as one of the layers? And what was it printed on, plain white fabric or paper or ..... ? Either way, if you continue with this (and you should) consider getting a wide-format printer. I have one now and it is very liberating to be able to print on a piece of fabric 40" long or more, so no seams later.

Love the colors and the quiet energy of the piece.

This comment is to encourage you not to overlook the detail, as I am even more strongly drawn to the detail image, above, than I am to the assembled patchwork of images. I experience the detail as a bit mysterious and, therefore (for me), more mysterious.

Thanks, Wren. I appreciate your work and enjoy these opportunities to check out the evolution of your process.

I LOVE the effect of these new pieces!! They have a deep vibrancy and texture that pops, like your holographics, but without the duel-layered effect....

You're art continues to grow and evolve--- just like you! :) Always an inspiration....

The trees are ghostly in some places. The bursts of color are compelling, and I like how you've "patched" the photographs together. A beautiful work.
