My word this year is 'transition'.
Art- This year will be my fallow year. A year of renewal, review, reevaluate. Space. Percolate.
Personal- Reduce.
We will move out of our home of 35 years to a new home that we will be building. This requires commitment and energy toward a not entirely uncreative endeavor. This will require de-cluttering of a major scale. We will scale down from outside studio, outside office, summer cottage, and home. Perhaps even my father's house. He will be 90 in Feb. Shadow thoughts.
Looking though things stored away for many years is like a past life review. Treasures sought after for so many years must be evaluated, given to family, friends or recycled. I have joined freecycle in 2 states. Decisions to be made on keeping or tossing are hard. I may need to weed though several times to winnow it down.
Transition indeed!

Wishing you all the best in the new year of transition. Hugs!
Go for it, Wen. And good luck with the downsizing. It took me five years from start to finish to fully downsize my life in every way. It's an incredibly healthy and freeing thing to do. xo
Wen, may i suggest you photograph treasured objects before you part with them. That way you retain the memory trigger without the clutter of the actual item.
Helen.
winnowing is a good plan. i'm trying to do a little every day too. clearing space [in the real and in the mind]. Happy New Year - and good luck with that building!
This is a very powerful word to motivate you for 2012! This is a difficult task you are undertaking! Peace, Mary Helen Fernandez Stewart
Remember to breathe a lot. What you are looking at is difficult work but the result is very freeing.
I KNOW downsizing is hard as we had to do it several months ago when we sold our house and moved to an apartment. I probably didn't get rid of as much as i should have and when we finally find a new house hopefully in a new state i will weed out more as we move in.
Just be wise in choosing and don't get rid of something you will regret later.......hugs! deb
