Collaging the surface

My last piece, Layers of Meaning, was made from a very large collage with a photo printed overlay of silk organza and hand sewed on to the top.
I am creating another collage background with gesso overpainted photographs from an advertisement.
I’m debating whether to print on directly on top or do another silk organza overlay. What do you think?

  1. Hey Wen! I really like these pieces and I can see doing both an overlay and direct printing. At first, I thought direct printing and then thought about that for a minute; I like the results of both but I keep going back to your pieces that have the printed overlay. I guess that says what I like the most and what I'm pulled toward. It's the feeling I get from the printed overlay.
