Chasing Color

Chasing Color has been chosen by Sacred Threads.

A greater number of quilts were entered this year than were ever received before.  This rally of support for the exhibit convinces us that the show continues to fill a need in the quilting community for a safe venue for our most sacred pieces. Due to limited space we will be able to exhibit only a percentage of those quilts entered into the exhibit.  Each of the quilts has its poignant message and many brought tears to our eyes.

    Thanks everyone- heres the Inspiration
    Color has become inspirational for me. I was never before was inspired by a thing, a product. Usually going outside inspires me, meditating, looking at art and reading poetry. But paint! Now I can get out a blank cloth or canvas and add colors in many manners, such a delight!

    Are you familiar with Anne Truitt's work (and published journals)? She was a minimlaist sculptor, in with the Clement Greenburg crowd. In her journals she talks about clor in a similar way -- not only as inspiration but also as a goal of the work. Her pieces are painted plinths -- the paint being built up in layers and the pieces named for the mood-tone-feeling the colors evoke.

    Her jornals are amazing. She really turned my mind around about minimalism.
